Dorothy Scanlan Stevens
Ms. Stevens began her career in financial planning in 1983 with a subspecialty in structured settlements with Diversified Financial Management, Inc. Two years later, she joined Structured Financial Associates, Inc., a nationally recognized structured settlement firm. In 1994, Ms. Stevens joined Summit Settlement Services, and in 1998 she incorporated her company and is now the President of Summit Settlement Services, Inc., of San Diego. Over the course of the past 20 years, Ms. Stevens has handled the Consultantage of over 2,000 structured settlement annuities.
Ms. Stevens has earned the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), conferred by the National Structured Settlement Trade Association and the University of Notre Dame upon the successful completion of a course of study required for certification as evidenced by a comprehensive examination. The CSSC program establishes exceptional standards for structured settlement professionals throughout our nation.
In addition to sales and marketing structured settlements, Ms. Stevens lectures at seminars, prepares workshops, attends settlement conferences and meets with plaintiffs and their attorneys. Ms. Stevens handles the entire structured settlement process from preparing proposals, reports, substandard medical underwriting, settlement documentation, cost analysis of life care plans and economic reports, to post settlement administration. Additionally, Ms. Stevens authors a quarterly newsletter entitled “The Structured Settlement Report.”
Ms. Stevens is a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association and the Consumer Attorneys Association. In addition to the CSSC designation, Ms. Stevens has completed secondary courses in investment products, pension and estate planning, annuity sales, general business, finance, negotiations, and ethics.
